Dr. Johan is co-owner and senior veterinarian with a special interest in large animal work. He has a B.Sc. agric degree in dairy science followed by a B.V.Sc. veterinary degree from Onderstepoort. He worked as a vet in the UK for three years before settling down in Parys in 1995 when he bought Parys Animal Hospital. He works mainly with cattle (beef & dairy), sheep, horses and game.
Dr. Brigitta is co-owner and senior veterinarian with a special interest in small animals. She is married to Dr. Johan and also spent three years in the UK in small animal practice before settling down in Parys. She is also the practice manager.
Dr. Jan is the newest member of our veterinary team in 2023. We are excited to have him in Parys. He is interested in farm animals: Cattle, horses, sheep and goats.
Dr. Barend has been with the practice for 6 months and has a special interest in your pets and their needs.

Rabb is Dr. Johan’s latest puppy and bred from Lexi. He is our crazy child who greets each and every one with great enthusiasm…. naïve, playful and insists on attention.

From September 2024 we welcome Athi Mhlekwa to the team. Athi is a registered Animal Health Technician and will be helping in the practice as well as assisting the veterinarians outdoors.
Willemien is our dedicated assistant in theatre and the kennels, caring for the nursing needs of your pets under supervision of our veterinary team.
Willemien was sadly involved in a car accident in December 2021 and has not been able to work since then. She has been let down by the state medical system.

Our friendly reception staff is headed up by Melanie and Alta, our senior receptionists who have been with us for many years. Ananka and Cornelia make up the group and add a youthful attitude to the team. All reception members receive training and supervision for you to receive the best possible service.
Our friendly ladies are our dedicated cleaning staff. Elsie is dedicated to theatre and instrument cleaning. Mirriam and Agustinah keep our facility here as well as at Parys Vet Shop neat clean and tidy.
Our helpful gentlemen assist with the maintenance needed to keep the practice running efficiently. Lawrence is the master of our gardens and driver. Abram is our kennel man, farm animal assistant and back up hospital assistant. Johannes is our newest staff member and fills all the gaps.
